The Fight Against Islam in Kazakhstan Continues

19 people were convicted of terrorist and extremist crimes in Kazakhstan in June–August 2026, reports the press service of the National Security Committee. “In June–August 2026, in criminal cases investigated by the NSC, 19 persons were sentenced to various terms of imprisonment for committing terrorist and extremist crimes,”  - the statement said on Wednesday.

    According to the committee, one of those convicted, a native of Almaty, had been wanted since 2017 for participating in the activities of international terrorist organizations. He was found in Turkey, from where he was deported to Kazakhstan in 2025 and taken into custody as part of a criminal case. The court sentenced him to eight years of imprisonment. It is also reported that another convicted person, a resident of Shymkent, propagated the ideology of terrorism on social media and incited acquaintances to carry out violent actions. He received nine years of imprisonment.

    During the same period, in Astana, Almaty, Shymkent, as well as in the Akmola, Aktobe, Almaty, Zhambyl, Mangystau, and Turkistan regions, 28 people were detained as a result of operational-search measures.

    According to the NSC, the detainees are suspected of propagating terrorism, inciting religious discord, distributing prohibited materials on the internet and among their circle of acquaintances, as well as participating in the activities of an extremist organization. Pre-trial investigations are being conducted under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.

Comment:

The Tokayev regime, which not long ago replaced the Nazarbayev regime, continues the course of destroying Islam and its adherents in the country. This is all because, from the very beginning, during the collapse of the Soviet Union, the regimes that came to power in the countries of Central Asia were originally created precisely with such a condition — not to allow Islam to revive in these countries.

It is precisely for this reason that the level of pressure on the population, so that they do not observe the tenets of Islam, is among the highest in the world in these countries. The ban on beards and wearing hijabs, the ban on young people attending mosques, the ban on performing Hajj before reaching an advanced age, the ban on holding any religious celebrations — all this and much more is intended to keep the people from returning to their religion.
