O Muslims in Denmark:
Complete Your Blessed Ramadan by Remaining Steadfast Upon Your Islamic Identity and Rejecting Democracy.
(Translated)
O Muslims:
It has once again been announced that parliamentary elections will be held in Denmark. This time it comes while we are in the blessed month of Ramadan, the month of the Qur’an in which it was revealed to be a distinction between truth and falsehood... Allah the Exalted said:
[شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ هُدًى لِلنَّاسِ وَبَيِّنَاتٍ مِنَ الْهُدَىٰ وَالْفُرْقَانِ]
“The month of Ramadan in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and the criterion.” [Al-Baqrah:185].
Based on that, we would like to highlight and remind of the following:
1- Democracy, as an idea and a system of rule, contradicts Islam in a fundamental and explicit contradiction; as it is based on the principle that the human being, not the Creator of the human being, is the one who legislates and determines the lawful and the unlawful. Therefore, democracy cannot be recognized nor taken as a reference for Muslims.
2- Abstaining from participation in the elections for this reason does not in any way mean negativity, isolation from society, or indifference toward public affairs. It should not be for us, we Muslims, to reduce our energies and political capabilities to merely casting a vote without effect within a system that contradicts our identity. Rather, we are charged with positive engagement in society and with effective political work, and that must be exclusively on the basis of Islam and according to its principles, and in the service of Islam, taking inspiration in that from the dawah of the Prophet (saw) and his political work in the society of Makkah as an example and reference.
3- This matter does not relate merely to abstaining from a prohibited act only, but it touches our identity as Muslims: to which system and vision of life does our loyalty belong? Participation in the elections, whether one wishes or not, is in reality considered an acknowledgement and granting legitimacy to the secular political system. And for this very reason pressure is exerted on Muslims to push them to participate in the elections as part of what is called “political integration”.
O Muslims:
Is it reasonable that we stand supporting this collapsing system, at a time when we witness that secular liberal democracy – not only in Denmark but throughout the world – is passing through a deep historical crisis: morally, politically, and economically?... It is a system of kufr (disbelief) collapsing before our eyes, and the peoples are increasingly losing their trust in it. And when we soon bid farewell to the blessed month of Ramadan and celebrate Eid al-Fitr, after we have recited the Book of Allah (swt) and reflected upon it, contemplated the Seerah of the Messenger of Allah (saw), and read the verses that clarify to us the solutions of Islam, its alternative, and its mercy for humanity; then it should not be for us after that to squander the blessings which Allah has bestowed upon us in this month by granting authorization to whoever it may be – whatever party he represents – to enter the parliament and participate in legislation based on kufr and in matters that contradict our Islam in an explicit contradiction.
Rather, the time has come more than ever before to present Islam as the merciful alternative to this system that is collapsing around us in the world. For it is a system that does not suffice with seeking to impose forced assimilation upon Muslims internally, but also carries out the arming, financing, and committing of acts of genocide, aggression, and occupation in the lands of the Muslims.
So what time is more suitable for carrying this responsibility than the month of Ramadan itself, when the reward is multiplied, and when Allah grants success to the one who acts according to His command and grants him success and guidance?
O Muslims:
Do not be deceived when some are drawn into the logic of narrow interests, attempting to suggest that it is acceptable or “strategically wise” to vote for what is called the least of the worst candidates or parties in these elections. It cannot be imagined that good will be attained through supporting parties or personalities that promote the agenda of homosexuality, or that seek to erase the Islamic identity through integration policies, or that affirm what is called the “right of existence” of the usurping entity occupying Palestine.
And do not be frightened by those who attempt to plant fear that a certain party or a certain person will be the cause of our destruction if he reaches power... In reality, there is no difference except in form and methods regarding the political fighting of Islam in this country. Instead of that, let us stand firm as a cohesive Muslim community, take a pure Islamic position, and clarify that we possess an identity that carries a vision for life, a system, and a concept of society different from and better than what prevails in society today.
O Muslims:
We in Hizb ut Tahrir / Denmark warn you, with love and sincerity, against placing your trust in a system of kufr and engaging in what Allah has prohibited by participating in parliamentary elections. Do not compromise your values and your identity. Rather hold firmly to the beautiful lessons of Ramadan: trust in Allah, the clear distinction between truth and falsehood, and carrying the responsibility of guiding humanity with Islam.
Complete your Ramadan by distancing yourselves from secular democracy which contradicts your Islam and fights it. Let us work together to call to Islam completely, protect our identity, and contribute to the global work to restore the Islamic political system and the model of Islamic society in the State of the Khilafah on the level of the world.
[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ]
“O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life.” [Anfal:24].
