Local members of the Islamic Political party Hizb-ut-Tahrir held a gathering for community leaders in Walthamstow on the 4th October 2009. The dinner was hosted by Hizb ut-Tahrir member Sami ur Rehman and was preceded by a series of short presentations.

Hizb ut-Tahrir in Bangladesh organized a rally outside the national mosque after Jummah prayers calling for the re-establishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate" and a unified Muslim Army.

UK Minister and MP for Poplar and Canning Town Jim Fitzpatrick has condemned the Islamic tradition of separating men and women at weddings. Mr Fitzpatrick went public with his decision telling the press, "It's a disappointment. We are trying to build social cohesion in a community but this is not the way forward."
