Tunisia Is Still Suffering Under the Weight of Hateful Secularism!

Another lapse in the secular class's record was added by a post published by a Tunisian academic on her personal Facebook page—a post offensive to the mother of the Believers, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her). This post reflects a poor level of discourse, both in language and thought, and lacks even the most basic standards of academic integrity by distorting historical facts and relying on dubious, weak, fabricated, and misleading narratives. This is a disgrace to its author, an academic and university professor!

It should be noted that Tunisian public opinion, across all its segments, is at peace with its religion, beliefs, and the civilization of the great Islam. It needs no one to incite it to reject those who have made a profession of attacking sacred things, nor does it need anyone to explain the hidden aspects of these matters. This act, by the standards of Islamic law, is clearly reprehensible, even to the mind of a thief or an adulterer. Furthermore, there is no need for us to defend the character of our mother Aisha and refute every claim and slander, for she is innocent according to the Creator of the heavens.

But what we must pause to consider, and what we must remind the honorable among us of, is that such individuals were recruited, at the instigation of the colonizer, during the early years of the revolution, in the media and intellectual and cultural events, to raise slogans they claimed were hostile to the Islamists who had seized power, accusing them of exploiting religion for political gain. Years have passed, and the Islamists have been removed from power through imprisonment, exile, and marginalization, yet the guardians of this decaying secularism continue their usual approach, albeit with a dangerous change in names that reveals their true intentions. Their writings and posts have shifted from attacking and discussing contemporary political figures—who are fallible—to attacking those who represent a part of our faith. She is the honor of the Prophet Muhammad (saw) and the Um al-Mu’mneen. Her connection to the Muslim community is unlike any other human connection a woman might establish with her society based on blood or marriage, as Allah Almighty says: [النَّبِيُّ أَوْلَى بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ مِنْ أَنْفُسِهِمْ وَأَزْوَاجُهُ أُمَّهَاتُهُمْ] “The Prophet has a stronger affinity to the believers than they do themselves. And his wives are their mothers” [Al-Ahzab 33:6]. Thus, Allah forbade Muslims from marrying the Um al-Mu’meen, and even forbade being alone with them or even looking at them. So how dare anyone claim that the wives of the Prophet (saw) have no sanctity?! Furthermore, the association of her pure name with the supplication "May Allah be pleased with her" bestows upon her a special status and a unique legal ruling, reserved only for the Mothers of the Believers and the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (saw).

Allah Almighty chose our mother Aisha (ra) to transmit Islamic jurisprudence and religious knowledge to the Muslim community. She was the first female jurist in Islam. Didn't you say, "Islamic jurisprudence is male-dominated and oppresses women"? Then why do you attack the one who taught scholars their religion?! Doesn't your reprehensible statement contradict your own simplistic standards?!

So this vomit spewed by its author confirms what everyone already knows: your animosity was never, and never will be, towards Islamists. They are gone, so what have you done?! The state is collapsing day by day, the people are impoverished, your youth are marginalized, and your security and military are infiltrated by intelligence agencies and embassies. So what have you done besides clinging to that rigid, hate-filled rhetoric that confirms your subservience to the West and your loyalty to it?! Is your hatred directed at Islamists or at Islam itself?

[وَالَّذِينَ يُؤْذُونَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ بِغَيْرِ مَا اكْتَسَبُوا فَقَدِ احْتَمَلُوا بُهْتَاناً وَإِثْماً مُّبِيناً]

“As for those who abuse believing men and women1 unjustifiably, they will definitely bear the guilt of slander and blatant sin” [Al-Ahzab 33:58].
